I’m 43 years old and honestly, this past year and a half has been one for the books. This season of life I find myself putting all my energy into my family/kids and their activities and life, which is a priority for me, but what about ME?! I finally reached my tipping point when I jumped on the scale and realized this is the most I’ve weighed… ever. Honestly, I don’t put a lot of thought into weight/pounds, but it was what I needed to make the decision that it was time to put more of a focus on myself.
My Tips:
I’ve started with the small things…
Mindfulness and getting myself in the right state of mind when I start my day. This has been as simple as listening to Meditation music on my way to and from work. For me, this has been so very helpful. The Meditation Station on Amazon Music is what I listen to (on shuffle). For 3 minutes I do a breathing exercise 8 Breathing Exercises to Try When You Feel Anxious with my eyes open since I’m in the car :). This has been huge for me! I’m an anxious person by nature and I’ve noticed a positive impact adding this into my routine every morning and driving home, plus it’s the only time I’m by myself!
I’ve focused on Clean(er) Eating habits. I’ve never been one to go to extremes when it comes to eating. Personally, I don’t want to limit myself to enjoying certain foods. That being said, I did start focusing more on what I am putting into my body. Again, I’ve really started noticing a change in what I eat and how it affects my overall wellness, energy level and mood over this past year. Feeling tired and low energy isn’t/wasn’t me. So now I am more intentional with what I eat.
What I’ve Been Eating:
- Meat and fish (Grilled chicken in air fryer 380 for 10 minutes is my go to and my family loves it!)
- Eggs (hardboiled)
- Jerky
- Vegetables
- Some Fruits
- Nuts and seeds
- Cottage Cheese w/ pepper and add a few grapes for a sweet taste (some carbs but works for me)
- Avocados
I’ve also started drinking only water (thru the week). I will allow some other beverages on the weekends!! It’s amazing the impact drinking water can have on your body. I even put a couple drops of my lemon essential oil in my tumbler to change it up because water is boring!
Would love to engage with other real team moms out there and share comments, advice, and tips!
Here’s to getting old! Cheers!
